Since it's such a big part of the advertising, let's do some VS discussions. The only rule for answers is that you must create a plausible scenario for the victory of your choice, rather than just saying who you think would win.

There is no way Mal loses to Han. I am huge SW fan, but I think Mal is just a tad meaner than Han. He, Mal, has more of a survival instinct.

What in the hell did Han do with his life according to the original trilogy that would give him any form of credit of being anything but a pirate and a scoundrel?
Mal on the other hand was a browncoat. He was a military leader.
Han would shoot first? Are you implying that Captain Malcom Reynolds has the hutspa or tact of Greedo?! Mal isn't Greedo. Mals better than Greedo and we can all agree on that.
Did you see the pilot of Serenity? Malcom took out the agent trying to collect the bounty on summer and he never saw it coming.
Lemme paint you a picture: We're at Mos Eisley, Han gets up to conduct his buisness after extorting and agreeing to take a teenager and and old fart to a planet that odds are won't exist anymore, Mal walks up - AND SHOOTS - no hello, no dialogue (unlike Star Wars). Game over. His quips will come after chewie sees his friend bleeding on the floor.
